If you’re the kind of person who takes selfies around 30% of the day, then you really need to have a phone that can help you get the best out of every shot.
Most mobile phone manufacturers overlook the front camera mainly because they want to bring the best rear camera on a mobile phone in the market. Unfortunately, this would leave selfie addicts using the rear camera as opposed to the front camera.
It is all good, but the problem with using a rear camera for selfies is that you really cannot see the actual photo you’re going to take (because the screen of the phone is on the opposite side).
Because of this, the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer, Oppo, has created a mobile phone specifically designed for selfie aficionados.
The Oppo F1, the “selfie expert” according to the company, is a phone that is specifically designed for selfie addicts in mind. The company has put great time and effort into building one of the best mobile phones for selfies in the market.
The design of the Oppo F1 is similar to its other mobile phone offerings. It has a square appearance with a hint of iPhone design mechanics here and there.
The back cover is made out of metal but it is interesting to see that Oppo decided to have a polycarbonate frame for this device. I guess they had to compensate given the price tag.
I know that the Oppo F1 puts selfies above everything else but they did put a rather mediocre screen. For the display, the Oppo F1 only comes with a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of only 720p.
Most other mobile phones in the $250 bracket already offer a Full HD resolution, so it is kind of sad that Oppo decided to put a 720p resolution screen for a phone specifically designed for selfies.
As for the camera, which is the main feature of the phone, is pretty standard. It comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and it also comes with the phase detection autofocus technology.
The front camera (the “selfie” camera I should say) is an 8-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/2.0. What the aperture means is that it takes some very good photos even in low-lit conditions.
There is no problem with the physical cameras, however, the problem lies in the camera’s software. Some images that were taken from both of the phone’s cameras were a little bit grainy, especially when taken from low-lit environments.
Again, there is nothing absolutely wrong with the physical cameras. It is just the post-processing app that deters this phone from being a truly great phone for selfies.
The Oppo F1 does come with dual SIM slots that are 4G LTE enabled. If you want to have uninterrupted 4G LTE access, then get a mobile phone signal booster.
